rita:do you need help erasing that? boy:yeah. rita:i actually moved to americawhen i was six years old i was born in bagdhad, iraq. it was really hard for me,just because i always felt like i was so differentthan everyone else, because of not being able tocommunicate in english. most peopledidn't understand me, and this was the one placewhere i was able to paint,
draw, whatever i wanted, and people would getwhat i was trying to say. (♪♪♪) rita:alright guys, listen up. as you guys know, we're going to be making a muralout of that mirror, okay? but i want thisto be your thing, okay? i want you guysto be able to put whatever you wanton there, alright?
rita:i really like doing what i do, but a lot of the projectsthat i do are very simple, and it would be really awesome to be able todo something really big. rita:it's just not that easy i guess, with our supplies. this is the paint brushesthat we have. to do something like this i needed topurchase more paint brushes so that we could even paint.
rita:we don't really want the kidsto have to worry about how the suppliesare getting here. art is just supposed to be fun, and they shouldn't have to worryabout something like that. rita:good stuff. are you excited? do you have any ideas? girl:um, i don't know yet. rita:you always need helpfrom places like art room aid.
all i have to do isput it on here and you know, hopefully someoneis generous enough to want to make a donation. coming from a different country, having art there and you know, knowing what it was even withoutknowing how to speak english was kind of cool,it always stuck with me, and i just try tobring that happiness and the joy that i hadas a kid with art, so that they can enjoy it too.
rita:take these home. rita:to know thatthe kids enjoy themselves and that they really didenjoy doing art i think makes it all worth it. captioned by gigecastwww.gigecast.com.
