cheap decorating ideas for the 4th of july
- [instructor] today i'mgonna share with you some fourth of july diy terra cotta pots. this shop has beencompensated by collective bias and their sponsor. so the first project is with a bandana, you can decoupage onto terra cotta pots so i'm using an outdoor decoupage medium and painting that onto a terra cotta pot that i got at 99 cents only stores.
i also got this reallycool flag bandana there. so you will put a coatof decoupage medium down on about maybe a quarter of the pot then press your bandana down onto it. now you wanna trip the bandanaso that it fits the pot. it has just a little bit ofoverhang on top and the bottom. after you press the fabricdown, you'll wanna put another coat of decoupage on top tohelp press it all together and you wanna use a brush withstiff bristles like this one.
now you might notice thati've been pleating the bandana and that's because the potis tapered at the bottom so you need to puts pleats every so often so that the stripes will stay straight. now my bandana didn't fit thepot so i used another scrap of the bandana to fill in the edges and then once you'redone, press all the sides and top down and smooth it all out, you can plant strawberriesin it like we did.
the next project is awatermelon cutlery holder and drink riser so again, you'regonna use terra cotta pots from 99 cents only with the saucer as well and they have a couple differentsizes of terra cotta pots at 99 cent only stores for 99 cents so it's a super easy project. so i painted my pot basepink, i added a green stripe around the rim, and then some light green for the rest of the rindand then i'm just using
a little round brush here toput on the watermelon seeds and you can make thesein the big and small size for all of your differentparty decor needs so put this underneath a drink dispenser or you can use it tohold cutlery or napkins or anything like that for your party. the next is my favoriteproject, these are some stars and stripes flower pots, soi'm using a textured paint on the terra cotta potand painting this all over
and then letting it dry. next i'm using a kitchen sponge, again you can get theseat 99 cents only stores, drew a star on it, cut itout and made a star stamp. i put a little paint onthis with a foam paintbrush and then used that to stampa star design all over the blue pot, now this isafter the blue paint has dried. now you can make your owntexture paint by mixing sand with acrylic paint if youdon't have a textured paint.
i'm also using acrylicpaint and chalk paint to create a dipped pot look sohere i'm just kinda painting onto that bottom of one ofthe pots and letting that dry and then i just paintedsome really messy stripes on the third pot to make my stripes pot for the stars and stripes, filled those with some flowers and put some flags and pinwheels and i'm ready for fourth of july. let me know if you have anyquestions down in the comments
section, i'd love to know ifyou make any of these projects. thanks so much for watching, bye.
