cheap xmas decorating ideas
i love the look of primitive, rusted out christmas bells. they add a warm & simple touch that reminds me of an old fashioned christmas. but the price can add up when you're buying the ones that already havethat rusty look, especially when you're buying large quantities. so this week i'll show you how to get that rusty look yourself with a few simple steps and for hardly any money. i bought a few bags of red & gold bells atmy local dollar store. they were between $1.25 - $1.50/bag. to get the rusty look, i'm going to spray paint them with 2 different products. first i'll use a spray primer. this is the tremcladrust paint primer in red oxide. it has a flat finish and will not onlyprime the bells for paint, it will also
add that rusty color that i'm going for. then i'll add a coat of rustoleum multicolor textured paint in brown. this adds morecolor to get the desired rusty color & also adds a textured finished which is thesame texture as rust. now this isn't an exact science, so you may have to add afew light coats to get the right color and to also make sure all sides of thebells are covered. add a light coat of the primer and let dry. it's quick dry so you can wait about 30 minutes, then spray the other sides. continue the same process withthe brown paint. continue until you reach the right color. you can use christmasbells in so many different ways when
decorating for the holidays. add them towreaths, christmas trees, outdoor flower arrangements, or just group them together in a hurricane lamp. the possibilities really are endless. this is just another example of how youcan get the look without spending a lot of money and using spray paint is one of the easiest things & one of the cheapest things you can use to do that. and if you'd like moreideas on using spray paint to decorate your home, be sure to watch this video here. ihope you enjoyed this weeks tidbit and again, if you do try this project, iwould love to hear how you like it or if you have other ways that we can get the same results, i'd love to hear that too. don't forget to like, share or subscribe. thanks again for watching, we'll see you next time.
happy holidays!
