modern bedroom comforter sets

hi guys! today i’m going to show you howto build this miniature queen sized bed with a modern geometric headboard design. thisis a very simple project requiring just a few square dowels and some jumbo popsiclesticks. i’ll also show you how to make the bedding and the rose petals out of some surprisinglyordinary supplies. let’s get started! to build the headboard, you need some squaredowels. i’m using these thin quarter inch dowels. you’ll need 4 of them in total forthis project. take one and cut out a 5 inch length. i’mjust using a miter handsaw to cut this out.

i also cut out two 3.5 inch sections. gluethe two shorter lengths vertically under the 5 inch piece. as usual, i’m using elmer’swood glue. then i grab a bunch of jumbo popsicle sticks. because these are quite thin, i’m going to double them up. add some wood glue to onestick, stack another one on top of it, and use some binder clips to clamp them together.this will help prevent any warping. then i cut off the two round ends so i endup with a 4.5 inch piece. position it in the headboard frame ⾠of an inch away from thebottom. then use that miter saw again to cut out four1inch pieces. add a drop of woodglue to the

ends of one piece and add on 2 pieces. addmore wood glue and add on that last piece to finish the rectangle. make three of these. position all three inside the frame. this givesyou an idea of what the design will look like. cut out four 1/3 of an inch pieces. add betweeneach of the rectangles using some wood glue. make sure these little guys are centered midwayup the rectangle. this will help make sure everything is symmetrical. cut out 6 more 1/3 inch pieces. add 3 to thetops of the rectangles and 3 to the bottoms. look at how pretty that is. the headboardis all done. now we need to make the rest of the bedframe.to make a longer jumbo popsicle stick, i stack

2 together and cut off a round end. then gluethose flat ends together. make 2 of these so we can stack them for thickness. make sureto stagger these two so the joint is at a different area on each stick. this will ensurethis piece won’t snap at the glued ends. cut out a 6.5 inch length. make 2 of these.then cut out two 6.5 inch lengths from the square dowels. glue one to each of the popsiclestick lengths. this forms the ledge that will hold up the mattress. add glue the ends of the popsicle stick areaon the headboard and attach the long frame pieces. make sure the dowels we just gluedon face inward. then cut out another 4.5 inch popsicle stick, double it up, and glue it to open end of the

frame. this closes the entire bedframe up. for the front 2 legs of the bed, cut out two⾠inch pieces from more dowels. then glue them to each end of the front of the frame. then grab a bunch of coffee stirrers. cutthem down to a length of 4.25 inches. i used 8 of these in total. glue them to the insideof the bedframe. make sure they sit on the ledges we added to the 2 long sides. look at that- the frame is all complete. nowlet’s paint it. i’m going to use this dark brown paint for an espresso look. i addit everywhere including the inside of the frame. that’s unnecessary but i do not playaround when it comes to minis. this is how

the frame looks with one coat. it’s worksif you’re going for a rustic look. i want it darker so i go in with some more paintin those light areas. then to seal in the colors, i brush on a fewcoats of polyacrylic. this adds a really nice sheen to the wood. i make sure to cover theinside too because i don’t want the brown paint rubbing off on the mattress. here i’m just adding in the mini mattressand 2 pillows. i made them using the exact same steps as in my no-sew mini mattress andpillow tutorial so make sure to check that out. then for the bedding, i grab an old dressshirt. my fianc㩠shrunk his shirt in the

dryer so now it’s mine. i cut off one sleeve.cut it open and now you have a nice big piece of fabric to work with. i cut out a 9inchby 9inch square. i’m just using a rotary cutter and rulerto get a really clean straight cut. i cut out another square out of some beige chiffonfabric. these will be the 2 sides of your blanket. i’m using some no-sew fabric glue.add glue to one side of dress shirt piece. line it up with the chiffon and press down.keep doing this all around the perimeter of the square making sure to just leave one 2inch area open. we’re using this hole to flip this blanketinside out. then fold in both sides of the fabric and glue down. now the entire pieceis sealed. iron out all the edges for a clean

crisp edges and the blanket is done! place it on the finished bed in any styleyou like. i’m folding up the blanket here so you can see the foot of the bed. almost there guys! last part. let’s makethe rose petals. i grab some red scrapbook paper. honestly, the thinner the paper, thebetter. i take a regular paper hole punch and punch out a ton of little circles. soakthem in some water for a few minutes until they’re soft. then grab one and rough it up a bit so it’swrinkled. you could also pull parts of it off for a feathery petal look. i made a tonof these! let them dry and as you see, they

will retain their shape. then just sprinklethem on the bed. so romantic! that’s it guys! i hope you liked this video.give it a thumbs up if you did and make sure to subscribe for more. i have 2 new videosevery single week. see you next time. bye!
