those are the different furniture i'm going to be using to achieve three different- (laughing) don't you laugh! you were laughing! hi this is elle, and welcome to another video. actually, our video this time is really special because i am one of the chosen twelve channels to participate here in the youtube nextup manila class of 2018. i'm actually here in their production set,

and there's so many people in front of me. and there are so many cameras and lights, so it's really a lot of pressure because i'm not just talking to myself anymore, but i'm super happy and thrilled to be invited to be part of this group. anyway, aside from the lessons they taught us, we have to make a video for each of our respective channels. the video i'm going to do now is show

how to achieve different design styles, even if we use the exact same furniture. i chose really basic furniture. the type you'd find in malls. the type that'd be easy to find. like this sofa, this coffee table, and this dining table. these are the furniture we're going to use to achieve three different design styles which is bohemian chic,

tropical scandinavian, and á´œê€ê™á´€é´ éªé´á´…á´œsá´›ê€éªá´€êÿ. so let's start with bohemian chic. what is bohemian chic? or what they call "boho style"? actually, that is just a very relaxed and casual style. just very laid-back, really. it has a sort of collected style. it's just the sort of look that's like... the items you've picked up on your travels, like moroccan or turkish-inspired textiles and fabrics-

basically, the important thing is that your house has a very relaxed feel to it. so how do we achieve bohemian chic look in this plain space over here? let's start on the walls. when it comes to bohemian style you've got a lot of color options for the wall, but because the look i picked was chic, right? the color we're going put over here is a very dusty, peachy-pink look that a really trendy millenial pink, but we'll use a more mature shade

for the curtains, the design i picked had a very natural sort of tie-dye effect so the curtains have a somewhat handmade effect to it. when it comes to accent furniture, what we'll put is this rattan chair, because it's really fitting for the bohemian look, and here's a storage buffet here that has a woven solihiya door. it's why it's still looks very natural- that is the goal here-

that your house ends up looking natural. for the rug, we'll go for patterned rug. something like this, very colorful rug. and also the throw pillows. as i'd said earlier, they're very turkish and moroccan-inspired. when it comes to wall decor, what i'll put here are those rattan-framed round mirrors- they'll have this kind of collected look, because they all look really distinct from each other,

and we can even put bohemian-inspired tapestry as well as a little bit of artwork. and to finish the look, we'll add some lights and accessories. so that's how we can achieve the bohemian chic look. so our next look is tropical scandinavian, what are scandinavian designs? actually, just really fresh, simple, clean. they mostly just use white walls.

they just liven the space up by adding pops of color and pattern, then some textures and light wood. that design, of course, came from the scandinavian countries. ikea's from there, so when you check out their designs, their pieces are very functional, which is kind of why i'm really excited for when they'll arrive in the country in a few years time. i added tropical, of course, because having lots of plants looks great in a scandinavian design so how do we achieve tropical scandinavian using the same furniture we used earlier

when it comes to the walls, we're not changing them because for this style usually they just use white walls when it comes to the curtains, what i used was just white and sheer, so basically the surroundings are just a blank canvas. now to put in the accent furniture, so if i put this chair over here, and the buffet table, you can see the chair's legs and the buffet table have the same light wood finish,

and their color and shape is clean and simple. let's add a mirror and some artwork over here. on the artwork, you can add in some pops of color, and the frame i used was still light wood, so it'd still match the additional furniture. and then you add some lights that have the same theme, still keeping it simple, and a few accessories. and of course, to finish the tropical scandinavian look, let's add a lot of plants.

so this is the way you can achieve that tropical scandinavian look. so the next style we're going to do is á´œê€ê™á´€é´ éªé´á´…á´œsá´›ê€éªá´€êÿ. what is éªé´á´…á´œsá´›ê€éªá´€êÿ style? it has a kind of unfinished look to it- a lot of raw finishes. it uses bricks as well, or concrete, then some exposed beams and pipes- stuff like that. it also has a lot of metal and raw wood.

this style looks really masculine and rugged, which is why i added some urban elements, so i could streamline the look a bit to achieve a very new york city loft feel. how can we achieve that look using the same basic furniture in that same blank space let's start with the wall. let's put an accent brick wall. if you can't install actual brick, there are plenty of options for wallpapers that still look really good,

so you can use those to fit your budget better. for the other walls, just paint them neutral grey. for our window treatment, instead of using curtains, i used blinds to better suit that streamlined look. and for some accent furniture, let's put that chair over here, and some storage cabinets that have a very modern, industrial feel. back to the wall, you can also put

wooden shelves with metal brackets because those are the kind of elements you'll see in an industrial design: some wood, then raw or rustic metal. a couple of pipes here and there... those are the kind of options you can work with. and of course, add some accessories to it like this frame i placed on the shelf. add some throw pillows, and you can also add rugs

these adds a bit of softness to the space, even if it has a very masculine look. and then to finish the look, let's add some light fixtures and a few plants. that's how you can achieve the á´œê€ê™á´€é´ éªé´á´…á´œsá´›ê€éªá´€êÿ space. as you can see with the three looks, we've used the same furniture for all of them, but the feel and vibe of the space are very distinct. one of them ended up very feminine, very relaxed and casual. one of them turned up really fresh and clean.

and one of them ended up looking very rugged. so it's really important to decide on how you'll design and style your home. for example, if you still haven't decided on what design style you want for your space yet but you need to buy the furniture now, because you can't use anything, and what can you do? just buy basic furniture, like what we used earlier. for your sofa, start with a medium-grey color...

even your coffee table or dining table, pick ones with just basic shapes, simple, then the finish you should pick- light wood is ok for that, or just plain white. just keep it simple for now, so next time, when you've decided on what you want, and you're sure what look you want, you can still use all the furniture you've bought. so, that's it for this video.
