mid century dining room set

hey there remodelaholics! welcome backto our diy channel. i'm cassity and this is remodelaholic. today we have areally cool project to show you from our contributor amy @hertoolbelt. shebuilt a beautiful slat wood coffee table and i love it for so many reasons. it'sgot a great mid-century modern style and beautiful angled legs. it's so easy tomake and you can make it any length to fit your room and your style. plus, it'sincredibly affordable. it will only cost you about $50 for all of the materialsand you won't need any fancy tools. all it takes to make this slat wood coffee table is cut acouple of easy 90 degree angles. and, did i mention that it can double for a bench, which is even better. you have extra

seating too. like i told you, it's a greatproject! so, let's show you how to build it. you can get the free printablebuilding plans at our site on remodelaholic.com so, check that out in thedescription box below. start by cutting ten pieces of 1x2 and two piecesof 1x3 to sixty inches or whatever length you want your table tobe. amy made her cuts with a miter saw which is fast and easy, but you caneasily do this with a less expensive tool like a circular saw. if you don'thave access to a miter saw, you can also do it with a handsaw. you'll also cutthree 2x4 supports, two 20 1/2 inches plus two extra half inchwide pieces to use as spacers during assembly. sand all of the pieces well.this is especially important if you're

using less expensive wood like thefurring strips that amy used. i know some people love the process of sanding but ialways get a little bored! which are you? tell us in the comments below. keepsanding though and sand those boards until they're smooth.now you're ready to assemble. make a mark 1/2 inch from one end of each of the 2x4supports. now place a small line of glue and clamp your first 1x2 slats atthat mark, with the support six inches from the end of the slat. nail the slatsin place and repeat to attach the other supports at the other end of the slat. place your half inch spacers andattach the next flat using a bead of

glue and brad nails.repeat for slab three and then four, but make sure that all the ends are squareand even for each slat. now is a good time to attach the center support. again, measure and check for square, then apply glue and nail. continue adding slatsusing the spacers to keep the boards even and straight. after you've attachedall ten of the top wood slats you'll add the 1x3 to the sides. flip the tabletopupside down and line it up with the slats. apply a small bead of glue andattach each side slat with brad nails. fill all the nail holes with wood filler.there's a lot of holes, but but just keep filling them. this finishing step makes abig difference in the look of the

finished table. after the wood filler hasdried, give the entire tabletop another good sanding so it's oh-so-smooth. next, measure and mark the location of the angled leg brackets on the 2x4 supports.amy centered hers on the board three inches from the edge. attach the bracketsusing screws and twist the leg into the bracket. finish the table with woodconditioner and stain and put it to work in your living room. your friends andfamily will be so impressed with how you made your own chic coffee table all byyourself. i love how this table turned out! please give amya thumbs up. she did such a great job! let her know in the comments below and tell us
