mid century modern dining room set

(bright music) - this is jill maurer. today i'm sharing with youmy eames chair collection. and charles and ray eameswere a married couple who were a team that designed furniture, and in the mid-century, and a lot of what they designed were chairs. they're probably mostknown for their recliner. i'll put a picture of it,it's their most iconic.

while i love the look of it, i have never found it to be comfortable. and i know a lot of people do, i know that i'm not in the norm there, but i do find his otherchairs to be comfortable. usually, when i'm sittingand talking to you in videos, i am in this chair here. this is his upholstered,molded, fiberglass chair. mine is in orange, i'll show you the back.

show you this fiberglass,this is hand-done. when you buy these chairs,you buy the chair part and the leg part separately,and this is the wire base. we call it the eiffel tower base, i don't know that he ever did, but that is the upholstered,fiberglass, molded chair. over here, i have another one that is a molded, fiberglass armchair, but this one is not upholstered.

it is also on a wired base,but this is a very short chair. so what's nice about itis, it's a full-size chair, you might look at it and go,"that's a child's chair!" it isn't, it's the samesize, it's just very low, and this is a nice, comfortablechair, and you can be low. for me, when the boys were little, this was a nice way tokind of read to them or slide over here asthey were falling asleep, but it's a great, great chair.

full disclosure here, i'm not 100% sure that this one is an eames chair. i can't remember exactlywhere i got this one. it is an older chair, and hedid do a style similar to this. i think it's an eames chair,but i'm not 100% sure. this one is. this is considered a loungechair, if you can believe that. it's a beautiful little chair. it is also, again, pretty low.

it is made from this molded plywood. here's the back of it, and i think we have a little different conceptof a lounge chair now, but it is, i will tell you,it's very, very comfortable. so the eames molded plywood lounge chair. my final chair from eames is this one, this is the molded fiberglass side chair, and i use this here at my dressing table. i have another one that we use at a desk,

but it's just a very nice,comfortable, easy chair. there are some videos,if you wanna see them, on how they do this molded fiberglass. it's done by hand, and it'san interesting process, but it results in avery comfortable chair. i hope you enjoyed this little look into the world of my eames chairs. i'd love to hear what you think about charles and rayeames and their work.
