2013 bathroom design trends
we're seeing lot's of transitions in synchwith fashion for example. so colors - bright colors happening. textures - crazy textures.lots of working with wood, it's a west coast thing. a lot of wood product that's supercontemporary. some of the strong trends that i see goingforward are brass - it's certainly been hot this year, and i think it's going to be evenhotter going into the new year. and also, hand-made and hand-knit items particularly.so things that have a grass roots feel to them that you purchase from locals are allgoing to be really hot trends going into 2014. i really enjoy contemporary cozy. it takesboth elements of being contemporary which is clean and cool lines, but taking a spinon it and making it cozy so that you can have
both worlds joined together. it's just a really- it's a hot new trend, and i think vancouver especially, we have a lot of condos and smallapartments..it's a really great look that works for vancouver. pantone just named dazzling blue as theircolor of the year for 2014, which is kind of a cobalt bright blue - it's beautiful andwe've seen it a lot - even in larger furniture pieces, like an ottoman - that sort of thing. i feel that the techno colors, so things thatare associated with all of things that are going on in the world of technology. veryvibrant colors in paint and in furnishings, so that's like lime greens and bright yellows,and vibrant oranges. everything associated
with techie, is going to be really popular. rustic modern is actually is holding stillkind of strong. even wood co down there does great work with their combining rustic materialswith sort of more modern structures. natural materials continues to be very popular inwestern canada, and in particular vancouver. these are fabrics that we were selling lastyear. it's our best sellers, they are in every corner. people start loving it's comebackfloral pattern. i can see lot's of old fringe style shears coming back which is also verybeautiful in my opinion on windows. you can say with stone in general that quartzis becoming a huge trend because it's very durable, so there's not a lot of maintenanceto it. i also see a lot of marble type looking
counter tops like the quartz has been madeto look like marble, but has the durability of the quartz. that's a huge thing right nowand i think it's going to continue to stay that way for a bit. l.e.d. is the future, but right now it's gota ways to go. it's good in your home under cabinet lighting. it's good in your landscapelighting, it's good in your accent lighting. cove lighting, toe kick lighting, they douse it a lot in recessed pot lighting, but i hesitate on that because the price pointversus the light output isn't there yet, so 2 to 5 years from now it will be there, butright now it's more just accent.
